WOMEN DEVLPMENT CELL

Empowerment of women means the self determination of self confidence that allows a woman to play an active role in society. The control that women have on their own lives and their involvement in public life and with in institution is their empowerment. With a view to achieve this goal Women Development Center with the help of students of the college in general and specializing in family and child welfare was established in the year 1996-1997.

Vision :

To create a culture of safety for women and give women the freedom of choice.

Objectives :

  • To create awareness about the status and role of women.
  • To provide the necessary infrastructure for the all round development of women's potential and thus help them to play a significant role in the development process.
  • To provide information to women from rural area and urban slums about the legal provisions for Women's Welfare Development Empowerment
  • To promote prapoganda publicity and research work for prevention of atrocities on women.
  • To provide the counseling services in the area of marriage, adoption, marital discord etc.
  • To orient women about the health services available for them.
  • To provide a platform for students for first hand experience in study and intervention. Orientation of the men folk about development and empowerment of women and to bring an attitudinal change in them.
  • To create awareness regarding prevention from sexual harassment.

Collaboration:

Considering the need of team work, efforts will be taken to work in collaboration with the experts from various fields like Judiciary Department, Police Department, Correctional Institution, Family Counseling centers, Social Organisation and Academic Institutes.

Composition of Cell :

Community Participation :

The Cell will work with the participation of the community with the experts of the field. Training of the women will be conducted in the local areas on the need based issues with community participation. Focused Group Discussions will be held in the Community with their participation.

Activities:

  • At college and Community level
  • Workshops, Seminars on women's issues for students, house wives, Community people etc.
  • Personality development camps.
  • Pre marriage counseling workshops
  • Awareness programme –Consumer, Environment, Disaster management, legal, health, Human rights, HIV-AIDS etc.
  • Andhashraddha Nirmulan Programme.
  • Competitions –Essay, Elocution, Group songs etc.
  • Sensitization Programme
  • Conduct TOT's for students
  • Create a student's cadre.
  • Role plays, street plays, skit on women issues.
  • Extension activities, Guest lecture, Visiting lecture etc.

Process of Evaluation and Monitoring:

The evaluation and monitoring of the board will be done on the basis of responses received from the participation of people from the society after conducting various programmes. The output of the evaluation will help further in monitoring and to improve the need and the quality of programmes undertaken for the beneficiaries. The ultimate goal of the cell will be for inclusive growth of the society.
